how to find local food

It might be right under your nose, but finding locally grown food can be a challenge.
Twin Cities-area (Minnesota) consumers who want to receive fresh, sustainably-produced vegetables on a weekly basis during the 2008 growing season can reserve a share in a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm before the first salad greens emerge this spring. The Land Stewardship Project’s Twin Cities Region CSA Farm Directory can help consumers find the farm that’s right for them. For a free copy, visit www.landstewardshipproject.org/csa.html or call 651-653-0618. Copies are also available at the Land Stewardship Project’s downtown White Bear Lake office at 2200 4th Street (second level).
If you’re in Illinois, Farm Direct is a great on-line, user-friendly, searchable (by zip code) database for finding farmers markets and individual farmers you can buy food from directly.
It’s there. You just have to find it.
